Bellamy

Early in May 2004, an MOW crew began work on a new industrial area at Bellamy just west of Glen Hammond and Nelson Yard.

The main line was temporarily severed, as new roadbed and switches were installed.

The road bed was carefully prepared and all end cuts treated with wood preservative (Pentox) in order to prevent deterioration from moisture.

Roadmaster, Gordon Bellamy oversees the rail bending operation.

Bellamy4

IPP&W Railway President, Fred Mills inspects the roadbed to ensure it meets railway standards.

Bellamy5

Fred and Gord ponder the alignment of the new industrial spurs.

Bellamy6

The two new spurs were added just north of the diamond where the Rat Portage and Mattawa Railway traverses the Ironwood, Peter’s Pond and Western Railway.
